I had many plans for the future; I decided that I wanted to be a Criminal Lawyer, migrate to the United States, buy many houses and cars, get married and finish my masteras degree before age 23. The list goes on and on. I worked at all these goals and pictured them day and night and was sure I would achieve them but to my surprise, none of these came through or materialized the way I expected them to.
I ended up studying business and decided, a?nuh weh nuh betta dan yarda so I gave up all plans of migrating.A I didn’t really see the importance of the masteras degree and i am yet to – mind you, I am already pass the 23 year old mark. My lofty dreams weren’t so easy to attain but I also realized that they were not a part of the life that God designed for me. Proverb 19:21 says, “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
You can never look at a puzzle when it is just starting to see the whole image; it is not until you are fitting in the last few pieces that you realize what had to be done first to put the image together. That is how Godas will is; it is like a puzzle piece. At first we wonat understand the different pieces we are working with but eventually His plan comes together.
When we are going through challenges for example, we won’t always see the purpose behind it. I was not able to understand some of the things that happened in my own life and why some plans failed to materialize but I realized that it was all a part of His divine design and will for my life. Every event, every step, every situation, has its significance in our lives and this include the challenges.
Challenges are not something we should run away from, rather they are things we should embrace as part of Godas will.A Disappointments, trials and challenges help us to grow and this is essential for all of us who are seeking more out of life.
Let’s examine Jesus’ purpose. Jesus came here to save the world, so that we may have life and have it more abundantly. Yet when it was time for Him to be crucified, He was troubled and prayed sorrowfully, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done” Matthew 26:42. I am always moved when reading this. Imagine the Son of God hoping that He didn’t have to pay the price, but despite his pain and suffering he surrendered to the will of God.
I am reminded of this passage every time I am faced with a disappointment. I am reminded that nothing can be done unless God consents to it. He and only He understands the purpose of each puzzle piece in my life. If he says it, that settles it and it should be the same for you.
I know it can be difficult but submit to Godas will today. If you do not know what His will is just seek Him daily and He will reveal it to you. Though you may have different plans about school, your career or family it is Godas will for your life that should prevail.
Remember, Godas will never take you where the grace of God will not protect you.
